About Amma Satsang Madison
Amma’s roots in the hearts of Her children in the Madison area go back to 1987 when Amma came here on Her first world tour. Several members helped organize Her visit that year and for 2 more years before Her Midwest program was moved to Chicago. We will forever treasure the memories of our first hugs at the Gates of Heaven and Friends Meeting House and our first Devi Bhava ceremony in a picturesque barn located in the unique, driftless landscape of Southwestern Wisconsin.
Inspired by Amma's example, we have made service the heart of our activities. Twice monthly we participate in the Community Meals program. When Amma visits Chicago in the summer and Michigan in the fall, we offer our volunteer efforts to support those programs. For the past several years we have taken the lead in serving as greeters at those programs, joyously welcoming and assisting those coming for the first time to receive Amma’s hug.
